Up in Arms Over ATM's
I was listening to the radio earlier today, and some listener had phoned in lighting there hair on fire over the outrageous fee's banks are charging us to take out our own money. How dare the bank's charge us a fee for using a different bank's ATM. They are making a huge windfall at the expense of the poor working class.
Now I'm no apologist for the big banks, but I think they should charge people, that don't have an account with their bank, a nominal fee. I don't get charged for taking money out of the ATM as long as it's a machine from the bank i deal with. Its simple, if you hate getting dinged for taking out 20$ every day, how about taking out enough money for the whole week. Dinged once a week instead of 7 times. They aren't charging you a percentage of what you remove from the bank, they are charging you a flat rate for the convenience of using there machine. They don't care if your removing $20 or $200, you get charged $1.50.
The NDP is pushing for the banks to be legislated to not charge anymore fees for ATM withdrawals. Don't we have more pressing problems? How about rewriting the WHOLE charter of rights, and replace it with a more sensible charter of rights and responsibilities.
OR MAYBE ITS JUST I STILL HAVE A HEADACHE, AND I AM GRUMPY!!!!!
On a lighter note, I am looking forward to Saturday, as I will be going to "EPIC sustainable living expo". I wanna check out some of the techi based stuff, especially the promoters of the electric bikes and cars. I hope the dudes from the states that are developing solar panel fabric are going to show. I am not sure if they are at the marketing stage for their project yet . I also am hoping the granola crunching is kept to a minimum.

And the thing is that even if the government does take these fees away, the banks will continue to charge them: they'll just be built into your monthly account fees!
